Math Resources

Here are some great resources for teaching math.  I have not personally used all of these programs but have heard good things from other homeschool families one each of the ones listed below

Pre Math-It and Math it

We loved the pre Math-it program for our young girls.  The dominos made it fun and it was great to see how well they could learn the basics of math even though they didn't quite get the whole idea of written numerals.  It was a great starting point to our "formal" math journey and a good compliment to math in life - cooking, baking, sewing, etc.

Math it has an equally good reputation in the homeschool community. We used it as an introduction and then moved on to other programs.  It is really well done and helpful!

Turn your kids' "math time" frowns into great big smiles of success! When you incorporate the games of "Addit," "Timzit," and "Dubblit" into your daily teaching routine, you'll soon see remarkable improvements in your 7- to 12-year-olds' mastery of times tables, mental math rules and shortcuts, confidence, and problem-solving skills. Kit includes one audiocassette, teacher's guide, student exercise book, and components for all three games. From Weimar Institute.

Please let us know what you think of this program and how you use it! We'll be eager to hear!

Dive into Math with Saxon Math Books

We have done the Saxon Math programs for several years and then stumbled upon the D.I.V.E. DVDs that go along with the book and were hooked.  It's a great way to help your student work through the books with the help of a teacher but still be under your guidance.
